What is FOOH?

FOOH — fake out-of-home — is CGI content designed to look like your brand has taken over a real-world location. A giant product erupting from a London rooftop. Your brand filling Piccadilly Circus. Content that looks like it cost a million pounds to install but was built entirely in 3D. Also known as fake OOH advertising, CGI out-of-home, or digital outdoor CGI — whatever you call it, the principle is the same: make audiences question reality.

When done well, nobody can tell if it is real. That uncertainty is the engine of the campaign. The debate between "it's CGI" and "no it's real" drives the comments, shares and saves that turn a piece of content into a viral moment. A well-executed FOOH campaign earns reach that no paid media budget can match.

Why FOOH works for brands

Traditional out-of-home advertising costs tens of thousands to produce and install — and only reaches whoever walks past. A fake out-of-home CGI campaign costs a fraction of that and reaches millions online. The content is the media. You don't buy the audience — the audience shares it for you.

FOOH is particularly effective for product launches, seasonal activations, brand relaunches and social-first campaigns. Brands in FMCG, consumer electronics, fashion, drinks and toy marketing have all used FOOH to create cultural moments that photography and video alone can't achieve.

How we make it

Every FOOH production starts with the idea and the location. From there we build entirely in Cinema 4D and Redshift — photoreal materials, cinematic lighting, and camera movement that matches the feel of real handheld footage. Street-level plausibility is everything. We design every deliverable for social from the start — correct aspect ratios for Instagram Reels and TikTok, caption-friendly framing, cutdowns and stills where needed.

FOOH specifically refers to CGI content that mimics out-of-home placements — billboards, building takeovers, public spaces. CGI advertising is broader. All FOOH is CGI but not all CGI is FOOH.
